Toscany

Starting at Munich we cross the Alps, stopping at Innsbruck. We travel through North Italy, the "Poebene" and via the Apenin to Firenze and Siena, located in the heart of the Toscany. We enjoy the picturesque scenery of the Toscany, partly pedalling on our bicycles. Allow yourselves to be spoilt by the excellent cuisine of this region. Alongside the coast and passing Rome we will reach Sorrento. From here we travel alongside the "amalfetanische Coast", passing typical Italian Fishing Villages. We also visit the much sung about Island of Capri. We return via Monte Cassino (battlefield of the 2nd World War) to the eternal City of Rome. We end our trip with a 3-day-stay in Rome. A delightful journey.

Day 1

Arrival at Munich airport. The NOTHEGGER TRAVEL TEAM will welcome you there. By VIP Bus (special trailer for the bicycles) we drive to our hotel in Munich. The afternoon is free at your own disposal. In the evening there is an original Bavarian Beer Party.

Day 2

In the morning there is a sightseeing tour of Munich. We visit Nymphenburg Palace and the Olympic Grounds. Later on we drive passing Lake Tegernsee and Lake Achensee to Igls, a quiet village situated near Innsbruck.

Day 3

After breakfast we go to Innsbruck by nostalgic railway. We view the City in a romantic way by horse carriages. From here we pedal on our bikes alongside River Inn to Hall, a well-preserved medieval town. We have lunch there and take afterwards a short stroll around Hall. From here we go on to Volders to visit the private Castle Friedberg. Our guide is the owner of the castle Mr. van Trapp, a descendant of the famous Trapp Family (Sound of Music). Lateron we return to our hotel in Igls. ln the evening we have a party in acosy mountain hut(1454 m) with typical Tyrolean cuisine and Folk Music. Overnight stay again in Igls.

Day 4

After breakfast we climb by busthe Reschen Pass to Meran. We have lunch in Meran. From here we travel through the Etschtal Valley via Bolzano to Valeggio sui Minico (near Verona). We have dinner in Valeggio (typical North Italian Cuisine) and stay overnight at a very good hotel.

Day 5

In the morning we pedal on our bikes to Solferino. Here the Red Cross was founded. We will visit the Red Cross Museum. After lunch we go further on to Sirmione. Here we view the "Befestigungsanlage" (Fortification) at Lake Garda.ln the afternoon we continue by bus to Verona where we do some sightseeing. Evening meal and overnight stay in Valeggio s. M.

Day 6

Today we travel alongside the River Po, Bologna Town and crossing the Apenin to Florenz. We view Florenz and drive on to San Gimignano. Here we settle in at our hotel, in the midst of Toscany's beautiful countryside. After dinner at an excellent restaurant nearby, we take a leisurely stroll through San Gimignano at night.

Day 7

After breakfast there is a guided sightseeing tour of San Gimignano. We have lunch in a country pub in S. Donato. From here we get an excellent view over San Gimignano. After lunch we pedal on our bikes to Volterra, a very interesting town. After some sightseeing we return by bike to our hotel. We dine tonight at a first class restaurant in Colle Val di Eisa, 23 km away from San Gimignano.

Day 8

In the morning we travel by bus to Siena, where we do some sightseeing. From here we go further on passing Lake Trasimenosee to Perugia. We take a short stroll around Perugia. From here we pedal on our bikes to Assisi. Evening meal and overnight stay at a good hotel in the centre of Assisi.

Day 9

Today we do an extensive bicycle tour to explore the surrounding countryside of Assisi. Evening meal and overnight stay again in Assisi.

Day 10

After breakfast we visit "Orte", an original Etrusker Village. From here our route takes us to the "Via Aurelia". We follow this road along the coast and go further on passing Rome to Terracina and visit the Old City there. Later on we continue to Sorrento. Evening meal and overnight stay at a seaside hotel overlooking the Island of Capri.

Day 11

Today we grab our bicycles and take a ferry to the Island of Capri. We explore this beautiful Island on our bikes. In the evening we return to our hotel in Sorrento.

Day 12

After breakfast we pedal on our bikes alongside the "Amalfetanische Coast". This is one of the most beautiful coastal roads in Italy. From here we drive on by bus to Monte Cassino where we do some sightseeing. Later on we travel on to Frascati to our hotel.

Day 13

Trip to Rome. In the morning we visit all major sights of Rome. In the afternoon we pedal on our bikes to Castel Gandolfo, etc. Evening meal and overnight stay again in Frascati.

Day 14

Airport Rome. End of a delightful journey.
