The Mountain Adventure

An unforgettable experience with splendid mountain walks. You will be surrounded by the majesty of noble mountains and the peaceful calmness of high altitude valleys. The genuine alpine life. We will ramble to mountain peaks, explore the picturesque scenery by bike and also visit a typical Tyrolean farmhouse. You will be in tune with nature. This Journey also takes us to the "Romantische Straße" (Germany) and we will visit medieval castles. Our accommodation varies from a castle hotel to an "Almgasthaus" (mountain pub). We will dine in exquisite restaurants and also sample the typical Tyrolean Cuisine. An adventurous mountain tour.

Day 1

Arrival at Munich airport. The NOTHEGGER TRAVEL TEAM will welcome you there. By VIP Bus (special trailer for the bicycles) we drive to our hotel in Munich. The afternoon is free at your own disposal. In the evening there is a beer party at a Bavarian Brewery.

Day 2

In the morning there is a guided sightseeing tour of Munich by bike. Afterwards we travel by bus passing Lake Ammersee and visiting Neuschwanstein Palace to Tannheim. We settle in at our adventure Hotel, which is located in the midst of gloriously green countryside.

Day 3

In the morning we explore on our bikes the beautiful mountain scenery of the Tyrol. In the afternoon we travel by bus to Weer, a typical Tyrolean village located in the Inn Valley. We settle in at our hotel, a former estate (Gutshof). We walk up to a farmhouse to meet the jodelling Franz milking his cows. Here we get a taste of some home-brewed "Schnaps". In the evening we will go by bus to the "Nafing Aim" (mountain hut at 1750 m). Here we have a fun party with typical Tyrolean cuisine (Krapfen) and Folk Music. Overnight stay at the Gutshof in Weer.

Day 4

After breakfast we pedal alongside the River Inn to Innsbruck. There is a guided sightseeing tour of Innsbruck. Afterwards we ride on our bikes to the medieval Town Hall for lunch. Further on we go by bike to Volders to visit the private Castle Friedberg. Our guide is the owner of the castle, Mr. van Trapp, a descendant of the famous Trapp Familiy (Sound of Music). We return to our hotel. Today we have done 40 kilometres on our bicycles (WELL DONE .. ). Evening meal and overnight stay again in Weer.

Day 5

In the morning we ride on our bikes to Jenbach. We ascend by steam rack railway (built at the turn of the century) to Lake Achensee. We cross Lake Achensee by steamboat. Afterwards we pedal through a picturesque valley to the "Gramai Alm". On our way there we stop at a mountain hut for lunch (Brettljause). Overnight stay at a comfortable Mountain Hotel.

Day 6

After an early breakfast we walk up to the "Binsalm" (2 hours walk). Here a Tyrolean Brettljause (Spread of Bread, Cheeses, Cold Meats etc.) is served. After this refreshment we climb down on the other side to the "Eng Aim" (approx. 1 1/2 hours). We celebrate our Conquering of the Alps in the evening with Folk Music and Dance. Overnight stay at the Eng Aim.

Day 7

Today we pedal on our bikes through a maple forest (the largest in Europe) to a village called Voderriss. We continue by bus to Lake Tegernsee where we visit Palace Herrenchiemsee. From here we travel to Eugendorf near Salzburg. Overnight stay at a quietly located country hotel.

Day 8

Today we view Mozart's City in a very romantic way on horse carriages. In the afternoon we travel by nostalgic railway to the surrounding Lakes. We have lunch at a cosy country pub and return by bus passing Lake Mondsee to Salzburg City. In the evening we attend the "Sound of Music" Performance.

Day 9

In the morning we travel by bus via StraBwalchen to Passau. At the Dome of Passau we listen to an organ concert played on the largest organ in the world. Afterwards we ride on-our bikes to Engelhartszell. From here we take a boat trip on the "Engelszeller Arch". We continue by bus along the Danube to Grein, where we visit a small wooden theater. Evening meal and overnight stay in Durnstein.

Day 10

Today we explore the Wachau Region. We pedal on our bikes alongside the Danube to Spitz. After lunch we return by bus to Durnstein, passing magnificent palaces and medieval castles. In the evening we sample the excellent local wine at a Heurigen (typical Austrian Vine Bar). Overnight stay in Durnstein.

Day 11

After breakfast we travel by bus via Tul ln to Vienna. We do a Sightseeing tour of Vienna by nostalgic tramway. After lunch we drive to the Kahlenberg and enjoy the wonderful view over Vienna City. Later on we continue to our hotel in Rust. Evening meal and overnight stay in Rust.

Day 12

In the morning we travel by bus to the village Neusiedl. From here we pedal for a short while and then take a trip on horse carriages via Illmitz to the Lake. Later on we return by boat to Rust.

Day 13

In the morning we continue by bus to Eisenstadt and visit Esterhazy Palace. Afterwards we drive on to Graz. After lunch there is a guided Sightseeing tour of Graz. Evening meal and overnight stay at a Castle Hotel.

Day 14

Today we travel through the breathtaking region of South Styria. We take the route alongside the "Weinstrasse" and stop at Gamlitz for lunch. In the afternoon we pedal on the "Schilcherstrasse" to our Heurigen (typical Styrian Vine Bar) and savour the excellent "Schilcherwine". Later on we return to our hotel in Graz.

Day 15

Vienna Airport. End of an adventurous holiday.
