Starting at Munich we take a short excursion crossing the Alps to Innsbruck, also viewing Neuschwanstein Palace. We view centuries of architectural and European History on this romantic Journey. Our route takes us from Rothenburg, along the Rivers Rhein and Mosel to Trier. We stay overnight in an historical castle, which was built in the 12th century, now a luxurious hotel. Our journey ends at Frankfurt.
Arrival at Munich airport. The NOTHEGGER TRAVEL TEAM will welcome you there. By VIP Bus we travel via the motorway (2 hours drive) to our hotel in Igls, a quiet village situated near Innsbruck. Here we settle In at our well equipped hotel. The afternoon is free at your own disposal.
Today we go to Innsbruck by nostalgic railway. We view the City in a romantic way by horse carriages. We have lunch in Hall, a well-preserved medieval Town. In the afternoon we drive to Volders to visit the private Castle Friedberg. Our guide is the owner of the castle Mr. van Trapp, a descendant of the famous Trapp Family (Sound of Music). Today we also visit another private castle, called "Tratzberg". From here we return to our Castle Hotel in Igls.
In the morning we ascend by panoramic railway, crossing the Martinswand, to the village Seefeld. By bus we take the route via Mittenwald and Garmisch to Oberammergau. On the houses we see beautiful mural paintings. We continue to "Castle Linderhof" the smallest but surely most beautiful castle of Ludwig 11 of Bavaria. We have lunch at the "Pub Forellenhof" at Lake Plansee. After lunch we drive via Reutte to Fussen. Here we view Neuschwanstein Palace, the most famous palace in the world. Evening meal and overnight stay at a very good hotel in Fussen.
After breakfast we travel by bus to Wieskirch and visit the unique church there. We drive on via Schongau and Landsberg to Munich. In the afternoon we visit Lustheim Palace as well as the Old Castle SchleiBheim and the New Castle Schleißheim. We have fun in the evening at a typical Bavarian Beer Party with Folk Music and Dance. We stay overnight at a good hotel near the centre of Munich.
Today there is a guided sightseeing tour of Munich. We also visit Nymphenburg Palace and the Olympic Grounds. In the afternoon we will see the concentration camp at Dachau. Afterwards we visit Dachau Palace and listen to a classical concert there, for compensation. Evening meal and overnight stay again in Munich.
We leave Munich today and travel via Nurnberg to Neuburg. Here we visit Castle Neuburg which is situated on the River Danube. Later on we travel along the "Romantische StraBe" to the medieval town Nardlingen where we do some sightseeing. From here we drive on via Dinkelsbuhl to Rothenburg o.d.T.. Evening meal and overnight stay at a romantic hotel in Rothenburg.
In the morning there is a guided sightseeing tour of Rothenburg.ln the afternoon we continue on a route along the "Burgenstraße", passing medieval castles and gloriously green countryside. We have dinner at the unique pub "Zur Hall". Overnight stay again in Rothenburg.
In the morning we travel on to Wurzburg and visit Castle Wurzburg. After lunch we take the route to Frankfurt and view the Old City of Frankfurt. From here we drive on via Mainz to Rudesheim. We settle in at our castle hotel, overlooking River Rhein and the surrounding vineyards. After dinner we will walk through the Famous "Drosselgasse"
Today is free at your own disposal. A unique opportunity to ramble through the romantic vineyards alongside River Rhein. Evening meal and overnight stay again in Rudesheim.
Today we take a boat trip on the Rhein, passing magnificent palaces and medieval castles to the Lorelei. We visit the Lorelei and enjoy the marvellous view over the Rhein Valley. From here we take a ferry to the other side going ashore at Oberwesel. We settle in at our beautiful castle hotel, called the "Schonburg". Tonight we dine by candlelight in the "Knights Room" (medieval cuisine of the Rhein Area).
After breakfast we take the route through the Mosel Valley to Trier. In the afternoon we visit the interesting Old City of Trier. Later on we return to our fantastic hotel. Evening meal and overnight stay again at the "Schonburg".
Airport Frankfurt. End of a historical journey. This tour can also be booked as a combined bus/ bicycle tour.
