Switzerland - France

Starting at Munich we cross the Austrian, the Swiss and the French Alps. We travel on mountains,us toll roads and ascend to a few Swiss glaciers. We continue via the French Alps, alongside the famous "Route Napoleon” to the Cote Azur. We drive through the Tarnenschlucht (rocky gorge) and visit Le Puy, a well known place of pilgrimage. Via Lyon we return to Switzerland. In the Emmental Valley we explore the beautiful Switzerland riding on a horse carriage through romantic countryside and also taking a trip by historical train. From the "JungfrauJoch" (mountain peak) we will enjoy an excellent panoramic view of the Swiss Alps. After visiting Engelberg, one of Switzerland's oldest skiing resorts, we return via Luzern to end our journey at Zurich. A beautiful journey.

Day 1

Arrival at Munich airport. The NOTHEGGER TRAVEL TEAM will welcome you there. By VIP Bus (special trailer for the bicycles) we drive to our hotel near Innsbruck (2 hours drive).

Day 2

After breakfast we go to Innsbruck by nostalgic railway. We view the City in a romantic way by horse carriages. From here we drive on to have lunch at the medieval Town Hall. Afterwards we travel on to Volders, where we visit the private castle Friedberg. Our guide is the owner of the castle Mr. van Trapp, a descendant of the famous Trapp Family (Sound of Music). We return by bus to our hotel in Igls. ln the evening we have a fun party in a mountain hut (1454 m).

Day 3

In the early morning we travel on direction Switzerland via St. Moritz. We have lunch at the Malojapass. From here we continue through the Engadin Valley to Lake Como, one of the most beautiful lakes in Italy. Further on we go to Lugano. Switzerland Evening meal and overnight stay in Lugano.

Day 4

Today we take a short walk through Lugano. After lunch we take a boat trip on Lake Luganersee. After our evening meal we ascend by diagonal railway to the "Monte san Salvatore". From up here we get an excellent panoramic view over the Swiss Alps. Overnight stay in Lugano.

Day 5

Today we drive to the Walliser Alps through the most wonderful Lake- and Mountain Scenery. We pass Lago Maggiore, Domodossola and the Simplon Pass to arrive in Zermatt. Evenening meal and overnight stay.

Day 6

By cable car we climb the small "Matterhorn" (3820 m). We have reached the highest point of our journey. From here we can enjoy the marvelous view of the Matterhorn and the Swiss Alps. Later on we return to Zermatt. ln the evening there is a typical Swiss Party with Fondue and Folk Music (Alp Horn Players). Overnight stay in Zermatt.

Day 7

After breakfast we travel on via Sion and Martigny to Chamonix. We stay in Chamonix for a short while. We continue via Ugine, and Chambery to Grenoble. Overnight stay at a good hotel in Grenoble.

Day 8

Today we follow the famous route of NAPELON arriving at Nizza. For every French person it is a holy duty to travel along this romantic road at least once in their lives. Here we find a great combination of magnificent castles and palaces and picturesque countryside. We settle in a tour quietly located hotel in Nizza.

Day 9

Early in the morning we continue partly along the motorway and partly on country roads via Nimes, Montpelier and Millau to the "Tarnschlucht" (Gorge). By bus we travel through this gorge, a unique adventure. Further on we travel via St. Enimie and Mende to Le Puy. Evening meal and overnight stay.

Day 10

Today we travel via St. Etienne and Lyon and Geneve to Bern. Evening meal and overnight stay in Bern.

Day 11

After breakfast we do a sightseeing tour of Bern. We travel on and have lunch at the Gasthof Löwe, the oldest pub in this area (built 1275). From Burgdorf we go by train to Grosshöchstetten. We ride on horse carriages through romantic countryside to a typical Cheese Dairy. Here we can sample freshly made Emmentaler Cheese. Later on we continue along Lake Thunersee to Interlaken. Evening meal and overnight stay at a very good hotel in Interlaken.

Day 12

In the morning we travel to the small mountain village Grindelwald. From here we ascend by calbe car (Eigerbahn) to the Jungfraujoch (3454 m). From the "Roof of Europe" we can enjoy the fantastic panoramic view of the Swiss Alps. In the afternoon we continue to Engelberg, a mountain village near Luzern. Evening meal and overnight stay at a very good hotel.

Day 13

After breakfast we ascend by cabin railway to the Glacier Titlis. Afterwards we go by rack railway from Engelberg to Stans. We dine at the restaurant "Burgerstock" from where we can enjoy a marvelous view of Lake Vierwaldstattersee and Luzern. In the evening there is a typical Swiss Party with Fondue and Folk Music (Alp Horn Players). Overnight stay again in Engelberg.

Day 14

Airport Zurich. End of a beautiful journey.
